This article deals with the most central output of the AlpStore project: The STORM Concept for smart storage and mobility, and the underlying status quo analyses and masterplans in Alpine regions.

Description

STORM stands for smart STORage and Mobility. It is a model to develop solutions to increase local renewable energy supply and outbalance volatility with buffering means. The STORM concept is fine-tuned by pilot activities in the partner regions.

The STORM concept is described in a White Book (see download below). Masterplans and status quo analyses of all partner regions served as the basis for conducting pilot actions on the STORM concept. It has been made possible to transfer the STORM concept to other regions and thus improve local storage systems for renewable, often intermittent energy sources.

The Whitebook builds on the results of Alp- Store at about half time of the project. At the time of its publication AlpStore partners are in the midst of their research and deployment activities. Final guidelines of the project will be published in early 2015. They will describe the ultimate findings and give guidance to local and regional authorities, regional energy utilities and Investors.
