The European standard of living currently highly depends on the use of non-renewable resources for energy supply. By the year 2020, the EU aims that 20% of our overall energy consumption to be supplied by renewable energies. Thus, a higher proportion of renewable energies in our final energy consumption requires the establishment of smart grids and should not harm the environment.
