The guideline towards carbmon netural Alps is an output of the ALPSTAR project.

Description

This guideline intends to give support in approaching the problem of climate change. The target group are stakeholders and agents of change who should to learn from the best and not to re-invent the wheel over and over again. The focus is on cross-sectorial, integrative and participatory approaches. The guideline also considers possible negative impacts of carbon neutrality strategies: intelligent responses to climate change must not have negative effects on local and regional economy, nature and society. The guideline uses the term sustainable energy initiative instead of energy autonomy or CO2-neutrality and mainly focuses on bottom-up approaches on regional level. The document includes an introduction to the term sustainable energy system, information focusing on the question of what to consider before getting started. It also describes the most important building blocks that make up the sustainable energy projects. The report discusses barriers as well as success factors. Finally, conclusions are drawn and a series of good-practice examples is presented.
