Description

This document reviews a number of European and international harmonization activities towards sustainable building, such as CENTC350, SO TC59 SC17, Sustainable Building Alliance (SBA), and others. It is identified that CEN standards and ISO standards are based on a common life-cycle analysis approach, supplemented by environmental and technical information. Further, the document reviews eleven national building certification systems, i.e. BREEAM, BNB/DGNB, PromisE, HQE, Valideo, CASBEE, LEED, SBTool CZ, Klima:aktiv, Gebäudestandard, TQB and GPR Gebouw. The analysis is done with regards to the availability of sustainability indicators and assessment methods and their degree of common understanding.
