Building life cycle stages (EN 15643-1)

Building assessment systems have to take into account the whole life cycle of the building. A building is the source of local, regional and global impacts. These impacts start from the beginning of the life cycle of the buildings (i.e. from the design, raw materials acquisition) and end with the de-construction or demolition phase. This scheme slightly differs from the CESBA building life cycle. In EU policy, EN norms like the EN15643-1 are very important for policy making.
